Removal of the Snake River dams to try to improve the Snake River fishery is a much debated subject. Some of the impacts include relocation of pumping stations for agriculture, more truck traffic to bring the Palouse wheat to market, higher utility rates, silt accumulation behind McNary Dam, loss of flood control, and the need to consider removal of dams other than those on the lower Snake if any real impact is to be felt, such as the Dworshak, Hells Canyon, or Oxbow dams, a subject rarely discussed.
Member Dennis Dauble will provide us a discussion of the current situation during our January meeting.
